Seven puppies were washed up by the Port Adelaide River, in Adelaide’s west, as police chase a suspect.
Members of the public called police after they saw a suspect driving a blue Great Wall car stop on Moonta Rd to dump seven red heeler puppies at 3pm on Saturday 30 March.
South Australian police said when they arrived the puppies were running on the beach and had to be pulled from the water.
“The seven red puppies were taken back to the station to be dried off and given the obligatory cuddles before being taken to the vet to be examined,” police said.
“The seven puppies have since been taken to a wonderful rescue organization to be rehomed.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
