Port Adelaide captain Connor Rozee subbed out after suffering another hamstring injury

Questions are asked Port Adelaide after captain Conor Rosey picked up another injury during Thursday night’s 30-point loss to Adelaide.
Rozee suffered a hamstring injury just five days ago, but was surprisingly deemed fit to lead the team at the Showdown.
Disaster struck in the third quarter, however, when Rosey broke when he threw a handball.

It wasn’t clear exactly what happened, but it appeared he hyperextended his leg and immediately appeared to be rigged.
He went to the bench where he spent 12 minutes off the ground and looked frustrated.
“You wonder what he would think at the moment if he went in with a bit of a qualm and let him down?” Channel 7 commentator Brian Taylor said.
Fellow commentator Dale Thomas was shocked they didn’t pull the trigger on the spare while Rosey was on the bench.
“He’s a very important part of this team going forward… But at what point do you take it off his hands and make a decision about what’s better for the club going forward and inject a player who’s fresh rather than risking your captain and one of your best players,” he said.
But despite not looking fit, he was sent back to earth for the final few minutes of the third term.
“You want great players to be on the field, but when he was running, he looked like he was limping and he wasn’t as explosive as he usually is,” border commentator Erin Phillips said.
There was another twist at the three-quarter break when he was eventually taken off with what the club said was a “tight tendon”.
The fans bristled at the behavior of their star player.
“Whoever called to play Rozee MUST face the music. Terrible call,” said one fan.
“Ridiculous management by Port to let Rosie play,” said another.
“The Connor Rosey situation is one of the weirdest ways of managing injuries I’ve ever seen,” added another.
“One of the worst selection calls from our medical and coaching staff in our memory and that’s saying something after the last few years in finals. Totally disappointed and deeply unimpressed,” said another.
The Power’s night went from bad to worse with Todd Marshall and Mitch Georgiades limping off in the final quarter.
It capped a disastrous run for the club, who slumped to their third loss of the season.
