A Kazkah oppositionist and prominent blogger with more than a million YouTube subscribers was seriously injured in an assassination attempt in Kyiv.
Aidos Sadikov, granted asylum in Ukraine in 2014 he was shot near his home.
His wife Natalia Sadikova wrote on social networks: “Today in Kiev, near his own house, an attempt was made to kill Aidos Sadikov.
Sadikov and his wife run a well-known opposition social media channel Kazakhstanhighly critical of President Kassam-Jomart Tokaev.
He is wanted Kazakhstan from last year.
Kyiv authorities said an investigation had begun, adding: “According to preliminary information, an unknown person with a gun approached the car where the victim and his wife were, shot the man and then fled.”
“The man is currently in hospital in a serious condition. Law enforcement authorities are taking measures to identify the attacker,” they added.
Sadikova later said her husband had undergone surgery but was in a “serious condition”. She called for prayers “that he survives.”
She accused President Tokaev of ordering the murder.
