Cohen admits he wants to see Trump convicted

After much fiddling, Michael Cohen admits on the stand that he wants to see Donald Trump convicted in this case.

Trump attorney Todd Blanche asks:

You’ve also talked extensively about Mea Culpa, your desire to have President Trump convicted in this case, right?

“Sounds like something I would say,” Cohen said. “Yeah, probably.”

Blanche asks: Do you have any doubt? Cohen says no. Blanche asks:

So why exactly did you say yes probably.

Cohen said he wasn’t sure if he used those exact words.

Blanche keeps pushing him about it. “I’d like to see accountability … I’m just asking you yes or no, do you want to see President Trump convicted” in this case, Blanche pressed.

Cohen replies, “Sure.”

The first whiff of hostility in a conversation whether Michael Cohen lied or gave inaccurate information about the Trump Tower Moscow trip.

After initially resisting, Cohen admits it’s a lie. Blanche said:

I’m just asking questions, Mr. Cohen.

Cohen said in response:

And I try to give the answers.

Now Trump’s attorney Todd Blanche is asking about Michael Cohenin a meeting with the feds where he was asked about Russia and the Steele dossier.

“You told them you never paid Russians to hack anything, right?” Cohen replies in the affirmative.

I wanted my voice to be heard that Steele’s dossier … is inaccurate.

Trump attorney Todd Blanch continues to crack down Michael Cohenconfidence in him, painting him as someone who saw a bit of himself in Donald Trump and was obsessed with the former president.

But Blanche’s approach was wide-ranging, jumping around a bit and hard to follow at times.

Cohen continues to remain calm and composed in his testimony.

– asks Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanch Michael Cohen about telling Hope Hicks in June 2017 that he missed Donald Trump and that he missed being around people he had worked with for years. Cohen says:

Yes, I did, I had a great relationship with colleagues. I said I missed President Trump. I actually said the same thing at a rally, I shouldn’t say a rally, a fundraiser in Washington.

Blanche goes on to ask about a statement Cohen made in 2017 where he talked about the fact that it was disappointing or that he was disappointed that he wasn’t able to spend more time with the Trump children or President Trump because of the investigation.

Cohen asked where that statement was made. He says:

I was advised that I could not speak to President Trump, but not to the family.

– asks Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanch Michael Cohen if he was lying when he said publicly that Donald Trump is a good man.

Cohen says “that’s how I felt” in 2015. When Blanche insists again, Cohen says she was “expressing my feelings.”

“You also said at that point that you would take a bullet for the president?” Blanche asked, referring to a Vanity Fair profile from fall 2017. Cohen says, “I did, yes.”

Did Cohen say he was offered $10 million to write an exposé book? Blanche asks, “You said in the article that your counteroffer was, ‘how about $100 million?’ ?” Cohen says that is correct.

“There was no money in the world to make you write about his family?” Cohen responds, saying that sounds about right.

Cohen Says He Admired Trump and Was ‘Knee-deep in the Cult’

– asks Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanch Michael Cohen: “You were actually obsessed with President Trump, weren’t you?” Cohen says:

I don’t know if I would describe him as obsessed, but I admired him immensely.

“You said publicly that he is a good person?” yes

“You said he’s a guy who cares a lot about this country?” Cohen says, “I said that.”

“That he’s a straight man?” Cohen said, “Yes, sir.”

“And that all he wants is to make this country great again?” Cohen replies, “Sounds right.”

Blanche asks, “You weren’t lying at the time, were you?” Cohen says:

I was knee deep in the cult of Donald Trump at the time, yes.

– asks Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanch Michael Cohen if it’s fair to say he admired donald trump when he worked for him. Cohen says yes.

Cohen is asked if he read Trump’s book Trump: The Art of the Deal while working for him. Cohen says yes, he’s read it twice.

Blanche asks, “You looked at it as a masterpiece, didn’t you?” Cohen says, “I looked at it as an excellent book.”

You actually described it as a masterpiece. Yes, “a masterpiece,” says Cohen.

Now Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche, is asking Michael Cohen about how he got involved with the Trump family and goes back to the co-op board dispute that got him noticed by the family.

The board was trying to get Trump’s name off the building, right?

Cohen says, “Yes, sir.”

Blanche asks Cohen how he made money with his taxi medallions. He said he won many of them. “You saw yourself back then, in the early 2000s, as a deal maker?” yes

Blanche questions Cohen about his work for other members of the Trump family. Cohen says:

I don’t believe I ever represented Eric, and I can’t recall if I ever represented Ivanka.

– asks Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanch Michael Cohen when he changed his mind about Donald Trump.

“I’m guessing it will be August 2018,” Cohen testified.

It was around the time I went to George Stephanopoulos.

Blanche questions Cohen about all the properties he and his family have owned in Trump-branded properties. “2000, we bought as a block,” Cohen says.

Now Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche, is asking Michael Cohen for items displayed on his website, including a shirt with Trump in an orange jumpsuit.

“If we can blow up the bottom of the coffee cup too,” says Blanche, extending a coffee cup that reads:

Send him to the Big House, not the White House.

That’s also a reference to President Trump, right? Cohen says, “Right.”

If you really look at this t-shirt, did you really wear this t-shirt on your Wednesday night TikTok? Cohen says: I did it.

You actually encouraged people to buy it. “At the thrift store,” Cohen said.
