Lara’s major meltdown moment on Dream Home

Dream home contestant Lara struggled to find her mojo on Monday night’s episode as the pressure began to mount.
Lara and her partner Peter are now part of the renovation team looking at the dilapidated old Sydney home of Punchbowl couple Jordan and Jacinta.

After an assessment team found the house to be structurally unsound and riddled with asbestos, the house was completely demolished.
This meant that Dream Home couples were literally starting from scratch, without even a basic framework to work with.
On top of that, a classic Sydney downpour turned the construction site into a wet, muddy mess — and the start of construction was delayed by an agonizing four days.
“It looks like a three-day festival just happened,” Lara said of the construction site.
Lara became increasingly anxious, worried that she wouldn’t be able to give Jordan and Jacinta the dream home they wanted.
“We have to give Jordan and Jacinta what they deserve, so it’s like a worst-case scenario,” she said as the team was sent home from the venue unable to begin work.
“Maybe Jacinta and Jordan won’t get their dream home.
“So yeah, the panic is starting to build again.”
When things finally got going, Lara was hanging in the balance.
“I feel like I have no ideas, no creativity,” said a tearful Lara.
“I just don’t know if I can do it.
“We just want our backyard done so bad, but I also really want to make Jacinta and Jordan’s dream home.”
Although the finish line was fast approaching, for Lara it was beginning to feel further away than ever.
Now that she and Peter were reunited with new couples, she missed her former repair buddies Rhys and Liam, Brad and Mel.
“They are our support people,” she said.
“We don’t really have support people here, so that makes it even harder.”
Even the normally fun task of shopping for furniture couldn’t excite Lara – until she got a surprise visit from Mel, who gave her a much-needed hug and cheered her up.
“I needed a hug so badly,” Lara told Mel.
“It’s just so hard for me.”
Mel encouraged Lara to continue.
“You have interior design in you, you just have,” Mel said.
“I know you think you don’t, I know you think it’s really hard, I know you think all these things.
“I’m telling you, you’ve got it in you.”
Lara felt better about things after Mel’s pep talk.
“I love Mel so much,” Lara said in a separate on-camera interview.
“Give me a little skip in my step.
“When you see someone who genuinely cares about you, you can feel it in a hug, and I did.
“Brad and Mel have our backs and we felt it from day one.”
Dream Home continues on Tuesdays at 7.30pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
