Emergency services were called to the home in Berrinba at around 6.20pm.
Neighbors ran to the house to help.
Both men managed to get out of the home, but one suffered serious burns after his clothes caught fire.
That’s when neighbors Joshua Cannane and Connor Williams sprung into action.
“He was just running around trying to get some burning clothing off of him,” Kanane told 9News.
Along with an off-duty nurse, Kanane and Williams began putting wet towels on the man.
“(He) ran to my place and (started) begging for water. Everybody helped him,” Williams said.
Another man also rescued the couple’s dog, trapped inside the fully involved home.
9News understands the homeowner told authorities the fire started while he was draining gas from his motorcycle.
The home was destroyed, but fire crews were able to save neighboring properties.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services confirmed both occupants of the home were taken to hospital for burns.
Another man who helped save a dog was also taken to hospital.
