Emergency services found the house on King Street in Fairfield West well alight just after 2:10 a.m. on March 23.
The home was completely gutted, and the two occupants of the home, a 28-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, suffered second- and third-degree burns to their arms and lower bodies.
They are believed to have suffered the wounds while fleeing the burning home.
They were taken to hospital in critical condition but have since been released.
Police previously said they believed the fire was set deliberately in a case of mistaken identity.
Following further inquiries, detectives believe the alleged arson is linked to a separate, allegedly deliberately lit, fire at a barber shop on The Horsley Drive in Wetherill Park on March 20.
“Police will allege in court that the fires were deliberately set in retaliation for a shooting incident in Fairfield West on Sunday 17 March 2024,” NSW Police said.
