Nigel Farage has praised misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate for being an “important voice” for the emasculated and giving boys “maybe a bit of confidence at school” in online interviews that appear to be aimed at young men over the past year.

Farage’s podcast interviews show how he is trying to appeal to a younger audience through a series of controversial podcasts and online shows aimed at younger men.
He ranged from arguing against diversity quotas for BAME people, saying “the idea that we have to give people jobs based on how tan they are, the color of their skin” is nonsense, to claiming that some people on benefits are ” too fat … also stupid, too lazy” to work.
In his appearance on the Strike It Big podcast in February, Farage said Tate had been an “important voice” for men who were told that male culture was to be looked down upon.
“Tate was a very important voice for an emasculated … you three, you’re all 25, you’re all told you can’t be boys, you can’t do stupid, fun, boyish things… That’s about it , which is what you call me. This masculinity is something to be looked down upon, something to be frowned upon. It’s like men are becoming feminine and women are becoming masculine and nowadays it’s a bit hard to tell which is which.
“And Tate got into it by saying, ‘Wait, what’s wrong with being a man?’ What’s wrong with male culture? What’s wrong with a man’s humor?”He feeds on that stuff. His campaign was to raise awareness, his was to give maybe a little bit of confidence to people in school or whatever to talk…”
He admitted that Tate “perhaps took this alter ego of masculinity too far in his dealings with women” and that some of the things he said and posted “were over the top”. But he said “the jury is out” on the influencer investigations. Farage was photographed with Tate in 2019, ahead of the court case in Romania.
Elsewhere in the podcast, Farage said: “The banking sector now full of idiots, people are promoted not because of ability but ethnicity or gender… The white man – many of you – will feel the world is against you. Andrew Tate got involved in it. You’re going to feel like the world is against you, you’re going to feel hurt and angry… These are massive culture battles.”
In another podcast from last August, the Spoilers show with Rob Moore as host, Farage was asked if he would rather listen to Andrew Tate or Jordan Peterson, the Canadian psychology professor and culture warrior.
“I think Jordan Peterson because I think he’s a lot more rounded. I think Andrew Tate is a fascinating figure. I think his speaking to men who, because of the awakening agenda, were told they couldn’t be men in any way was an important thing. But I feel some of his comments were pretty awful. Jordan has a much more consistent intellectualism to what he does.”
Asked about his podcast appearances, including his comments about Tate, Farage said: “There is an awakening in the younger generation who are sick of being dictated to, sick of being lectured to. They see through the rubbish they are taught in schools and universities. If no other politician is willing to reach out to this group of people, then I will.”
Alex Davies-Jones, Labour’s candidate and shadow minister for domestic violence, said Tate was a “dangerous misogynist who faces multiple charges of human trafficking and sex crimes – and it is inexplicably a politician to praise him”.
Davies-Jones, who has previously faced death and rape threats for criticizing Tate’s ‘brainwashing’ of young boys, added: ‘Tate is not a positive role model for young boys. He will drag them down a terrifying rabbit hole of objectifying and mistreating women. It’s never just a joke – it’s part of a toxic culture that unfortunately often leads to violence.”
In an episode of Your Round Podcastwhich aired earlier this month, Farage hit out at the idea of employment policies that take diversity into account, appearing to describe people of color as ‘suntanned’.
“The competition is even worse. The idea that we have to give people jobs based on how tan they are, the color of their skin… the whole thing is bullshit. One guy who is my producer at GB News is half Indian. I’m darker than him! This is nonsense.” He later added: “Now we’re saying this guy gets this job because he’s black or he’s gay.”
In an appearance on Freedom of Speech Trigernometry Podcastwhich has almost 1 million subscribers, in February 2023 Farage stated that “I fear prosperity is making millions of people lazy”.
“I’m too fat, I’m too stupid, I’m too lazy, I don’t get out of bed in the morning. I smoke dope, give me money… That’s what we say. “I don’t need to work, the state will provide for me” … We can’t afford it, he said.
Other right-wing views aired on the podcast included Farage saying he wished former Conservative prime minister Liz Truss had “held her nerve” and stuck to her budget as “a lot of it was good thinking”. – although he said it was too much, too fast. He also claimed that Jeremy Hunt taking over as chancellor after the Budget sparked a market backlash was part of a “globalist coup”.
In a subsequent interview for a show called Nomadic capitalist in April 2024, Farage heaped praise on Javier Millais, the far-right libertarian Argentine president famous for posing with a chainsaw, saying he had brought in “Thatcherism on steroids – it’s incredible, austerity and cuts in public spending, doing all the things he’s done,” adding, “That’s leadership … he’s amazing.” When asked to list the best leaders in the Western world, Farage named Hungary’s right-wing leader Viktor Orbán, a “strong leader”, and his “friend” Donald Trump, a US presidential candidate.
Previously, in 2016 on Fox News, Farage praised Vladimir Putin, the Russian president who he said for “all his flaws” was “a strong leader who believes in his own nation”.
