The bottom of the table looks like this. Very close but Luton remain 18th.
Final score: Luton 1-1 Everton
90+8 minutes: And almost a goal at the last second! The ball falls to Townsend, whose low shot from the edge of the area is on its way and Pickford is gone until Branthwaite throws out a leg to deflect it wide. And that’s the last shot in the game!
90+7 minutes: That’s headed too, but then Sambi Lokonga is fouled and Luton have what is surely now a last chance from a free-kick on the left.
90+7 minutes: Close! Berry’s overhead kick is accurate but hits a defender before the net. Another corner!
90+6 minutes: Woodrow crossed, Berry shot and Pickford curled home. Another corner and Kaminski heads towards it.
90+5 minutes: A low, weak 25-yard shot from Menghi is picked up by Pickford. There will probably be a bonus minute of added time because of those corner tricks.
90+4 minutes: Luton win a free kick in their own half. Rob Edwards waves to everyone, and Kaminsky lingers. Everton win the title.
90+3 minutes: The referee blew his whistle as the ball went in and spoke to Sambi Lokonga. Andre Gomes is then sued for complaining about something, a development he complains about.
90+2 minutes: The more desperate they were to score, the less it looked like they would. Right now they are extremely desperate and Everton there is an angle.
90+1 minutes: There will be about six minutes of added time.
87 minutes: Another Luton change: Chong off, Luke Berry on.
85 minutes: Woodrow shoots well over the bar from an unexpected distance. Time is running out and such efforts are more a sign of desperation than ambition.
84 minutes: Everton break, they drop the ball into space on the left and Beto gets to it, tries to run straight through Osho and falls. At one point, Osho had a fist on the shirt, but he didn’t seem to pull it and the referee was unable to call a foul.
83 minutes: Barkley now stings Pickford’s palms with a 25-yard shot that is powerfully struck but too close to the keeper.
81 minutes: Everton played poorly in the second half, but for all Luton’s corners and greater attacking commitment, Pickford didn’t have to do much, while Kaminski had to make two excellent saves.
79 minutes: Substitution break as both goalscorers leave the field. For Everton Calvert-Lewin and Gueye exit, Beto and Chermiti enter. Luton brought on Andros Townsend and took Adebayo off.
77 minutes: Super stop! Everton attack and after a cross from the right wing McNeill cuts back to Calvert-Lewin who leaps high over two defenders and heads goalwards but Kaminski turns it over the bar!
76 minutes: Another Luton corner, their fifth of the half. It falls to Barkley, who takes a shot at the legs of a defender.
74 minutes: Chong holds the ball on the right, Woodrow runs through the middle and Edebayo is completely uncovered further left. He tries to find the first one, goes over his pass and Pickford collects.
71 minutes: Luton enlists Woodrow for Onyedinma. They must score at least once without conceding and have 20 minutes to do so.
69 minutes: Everton come closer now! Harrison’s shot deflects off Osho and into the top corner, but Kaminski turns it wide of the post!
67 minutes: Another Luton corner, this one conceded by Harrison, who drops a boot just as Doughty appears to have eluded him. Everton brought Coleman for Young before it was taken.
66 minutes: Tarkowski headed in a corner but it was deflected back to Doughty and this time he found the head of Barkley who fired over the bar. And probably a little wider than that.
65 minutes: Chong wins another corner. The law of averages may soon decide to kick in.
63 minutes: Luton win a free-kick but their cross is cleared again.
62 minutes: Now the hosts have a corner. The volume from the crowd goes up a notch. Corner is cleared but Luton have a chance.
60 minutes: Luton work well but Onyedinma’s cross is not good enough and Everton clear.
57 minutes: Everton it looks like they were told at halftime that they needed to calm down a bit.
54 minutes: Everton take off Ducour and Garner and bring in Onana and Andre Gomes.
54 minutes: Doughty crosses from a free-kick and Menghi heads over.
53 minutes: Chong is tripped from behind by Gueye. Just before contact, Chong gifted the ball away, but just after that Luton took a free-kick and Gueye was shown a yellow card.
51 minutes: Osho pushed the ball to his right foot and fired wide, but close enough for Pickford to pounce on it to be safe.
49 minutes: Luton eventually got the ball into the box, but the only thing in serious danger was Ashley Young’s head after Morris headed rather than the ball.
47 minutes: No penalty area is under threat yet.
46 minutes: Peeeep! Everton start the second half.
The players are already coming back. Andros Townsend was warming up at half-time and if he isn’t introduced yet, it certainly won’t be for long.
I think the answer to this question is: not much because the ball didn’t go in and if he had missed it Everton would take a goal kick.
Half time: Luton 1-1 Everton
45+6 minutes: Just before the break Doughty sent in another good cross from the left which was headed and then cleared by Godfrey. Everton goes through at the other end, but the attempted pass to Calvert-Lewin is deflected out of play. And that’s the end of the half!
45+4 minutes: Morris fired a shot that narrowly missed the far post. It was a very open game. Glimpses of good play but both teams wasted no time getting the ball forward.
45+2 minutes: Harrison’s cross is headed by Mengi into Osho’s back and deflects just wide!
45+1 minutes: The first of six minutes of added time and Doughty’s shot was easily saved by Pickford. This is the first shot on target that didn’t go in.
44 minutes: The free-kick is pumped into the box, headed in and Tarkowski sends it curling across the six-yard box from where it is cleared.
