Olympic gold medalist Sally Pearson will dive back into an ice bath for the first time since retiring from athletics for the Big Freeze at the MCG.
The 7NEWS Gold Coast anchor has been announced as the sixth slider for the FightMND fundraiser in the King’s Birthday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood.
She joins tennis great Pat Rafter, retired West Coast star Nick Naitanui and 7AFL commentators Joel Selwood, Erin Phillips and James Brayshaw on the bill, with three more to be revealed this week.

“People are surprised when I tell them, ‘I’m more is more and less is boring’ kind of person,” Pearson said.
“When I was asked to do the Big Freeze to help FightMND I thought how could I make a big splash so to speak and help people understand how important it is to raise awareness to stop this cruel disease!
“The collapse will happen at the MCG on June 10, it will be bitterly cold, but that’s nothing compared to what more than 2000 Australians are living with. Life expectancy is 27 months with MND.
Pearson competed for medals at the MCG at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and won bronze in the relay as a 19-year-old rising star.
The Big Freeze is in its 10th anniversary this year, with former AFL player and coach Neale Daniher defying expectations after being diagnosed with MND in 2013.
He helped announce the sliders with daughter Beck.
The Danihers joked that they decided “this was the perfect time” to send Sellwood down the rink after he and his three brothers surpassed the four Daniher brothers for the most games played by a sibling group.
“Neil is not at all upset that we passed his record!” Selwood said Saturday night with a smile.
“I got this letter when he asked me to do it, he said ‘I’m not very happy with you so it’s your turn to go.’

This year’s sliders will be rock star dressed.
“It’s not my strong suit,” Selwood said.
“Elton John was the last concert I went to, so maybe, we’ll see. I have a week to figure it out.”
