GWM has priced its new Cannon Alpha range, which includes Australia’s first hybrid ute.
The GWM Cannon Alpha the range starts at $51,990 for the Lux diesel, with the sole hybrid option priced at $64,990.
CarExpert understands that the Cannon Alpha models will reach GWM dealerships in June.

Cannon Alpha is placed on top of the existing one Ute cannonbut offers larger exterior dimensions, greater towing capacity, a more luxurious interior and a more powerful turbodiesel engine.
There’s also a hybrid option that no competitor can match in Australia. BYD and Ford have confirmed plug-in hybrids for our market, which are expected later this year and early next year, respectively.

Efficiency
The GWM Cannon Alpha uses 8.9L/100km on the combined cycle with the diesel engine and 9.8L/100km with the hybrid drive.
Dimensions
The GWM Cannon Alpha measures 35mm longer, 57mm wider and 38mm taller than the GWM Cannon Ute, on a 120mm longer wheelbase.
GWM says this allows it to slot in between standard double-cabs and full-size American pickups.
Payload varies by model.
Service and warranty
GWM backs its vehicles with a seven-year unlimited mileage warranty.
The price of the service is not yet available.

The GWM Cannon Alpha has not yet been tested by ANCAP.
